         ***Mercury and Roosevelt Dimes***

Our nation's smallest coin is often overlooked by collectors. But despite its diminutive size, both the Mercury dime and Roosevelt dime have held up well and full date examples are generally available in many grades. The Mercury dime was produced from 1916-1945 and the image of Lady Liberty with wings is not Mercury at all, but is intended to symbolize liberty of thought. The Roosevelt dime began life in 1946 and is often considered untouchable because of FDR's impact on America after the Depression years in the 1930's and into World War II.
