The Sovereign Nation of the Shawnee Tribe is the first group of Native American Indians to issue their own coins. Production of these magnificent 1 oz .999 fine BU and Proof Silver bullion coins began in 2002. The BU version of these Shawnee treasures is issued in a Limited Edition of 50,000 coins and the Proof version is issued in a Limited Edition of 20,000 coins only. Each BU coin arrives in an air-tite holder and each Proof coin arrives in an air-tite holder, Shawnee pouch and Certificate of Authenticity. The reverse of each Silver bullion coin bears a coat of arms with 12 stars representing the original 12 tribes of the Shawnee Nation.
