From 1883 to the present day, the Nickel has gone through significant changes. The Liberty Head "V" nickel gave way in 1913 to what has become America's true treasure coin, the Buffalo nickel. But as much as this coin was loved by all, it only lasted 25 years before the Jefferson nickel began its 65 year reign. A half dozen Westward Journey nickels later, we witnessed the arrival of a new Jefferson nickel with a full forward portrait and an enhanced Monticello reverse. Maybe change is good, maybe not, but the change in our pockets is never the same when it comes to nickels.
