PRESIDENTIAL $1 COIN PROGRAM
"The
Congress finds that it is appropriate.....to mint coins in
commemoration of each of the Nation's past Presidents and their
spouses.....to revitalize the design of United States coinage and
return circulating coinage to its position as an object of
aesthetic beauty.....reminiscent of the Golden Age of Coinage at
the beginning of the 20th century, initiated by President Theodore
Roosevelt....."
With these words the Presidential
$1 Coin Act became law in December 2005, paving the way for four
new Presidential Dollar designs every year through 2016. Each
dollar will be produced in limited quantity during 13 week
intervals and will bear an obverse design honoring each President
in the order that they served and a reverse design featuring a
striking rendition of the Statue of Liberty. COINLAND.COM
